Do you believe in this world?

Why does Alice want to enter Cheongdam-dong?

Why would she scheme her way into Cheongdam-dong, hurting herself and others in the process? What can't she use hard work and talent, instead of pretense and lies?

Because she wants to gain a place in this world, this world, which does not believe in her.

Everybody works hard. But the poor needs to work harder than the rich, to become somebody.

Since the rich are born with the upperhand, they should not blame the poor for trying to achieve something that was unfairly kept from them in the first place.

"Alice in Cheongam-dong" explores the concept of the poor trying to win society's recognition, by scheming into the rich world. Is this right, or wrong?

Well..

There is something fundamentally and morally wrong with stealing a rich man's heart to get into the rich world.

Watching the drama, however, I can't help but side with Alice, because I understand her motive.

This world, as it is made, adores money. Money, brings status.

Everyone has different expectations of the world. Everyone can dream big and should dream big.

However, this world cannot cater to everybody.

Status.. You are either born with it, win it by luck, or achieve it through hard work.

Who ever says scheming is not hard work?

Betraying yourself and others, is not easy. The guilt can kill you a million times, inside.

What do you say?
